Ex-Husband, Your Love Means Nothing to Me

The diagnosis said severe depression.
After that, I stopped trying to control my CEO husband.
I stopped asking about his schedule. When Beck came home with women's perfume on his collar, I smiled and helped him unbutton his shirt.
When a car accident left me injured on a business trip and the doctor asked me to call family to sign the consent form, I just said, my voice flat, "I have no family."
The nurse checked my information, hesitant. "Your emergency contact is listed as Beck Blackwood. Should I let him know you're here?"
I smiled and waved it off. No need.
Thirty minutes later, Beck still pushed open the door to my room.
His brow was tight. His voice carried blame. "You were in an accident and you didn't call me?"
I scrolled through documents on my phone. "Surface wounds. Didn't want to waste your time."
The distance in my voice caught Beck off guard.
He opened his mouth, but my phone lit up with a news alert—a tech blog headline: "Blackwood Group CEO Books Luxury Yacht to Celebrate New Analyst's Win." The image was a blurry silhouette on a yacht deck.
Beck's face shifted. His eyes darted to me, expecting me to explode the way I used to, screaming and demanding answers.
I didn't even look up. I sat there, quiet, reading the divorce draft my lawyer had just sent.
